St. James Wellness Center

Springfield, Virginia

Designed 2016

Opened 2018

Located in a suburb of Washington, D.C., the St. James Wellness Center offers residents every amenity all year round including an indoor competition swimming pool and children’s wet play structure. The entire complex was designed with the whole family in mind, allowing parents to enjoy their preferred sport or workout while children can attend sports practices or take part in supervised childcare. For swimmers, the sizable pool also promotes leisurely exercise and accommodates competitive long-distance swimming. Outfitted with a variety of spraying elements and water slides, there are many features to entertain younger members at the splash area.

The Myrtha stainless steel swimming pool stretches 52 meters and features a moveable bulkhead that allows the space to be divided. This multi-use design optimizes space while supporting lap swimming and other aquatic activities such as water aerobics or water polo. The 10,000-square-foot children’s aquatic area boasts an impressive 32-foot tower with three looping body slides and a large turning wheel at the top that rains down a deluge of water. Spraying arches and floor nozzles add to the adventure. For toddlers, the mini play structure includes a four-foot double slide and plenty of splashing and spraying elements all within the zero-depth play area.
