New Martin Aquatic-Designed Children’s Aqua Park Opens at Caribbean Resort
When it comes to all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, there are numerous options that feature picturesque beaches, luxurious pool decks, and fantastic dining and entertainments options. One new resort in the Dominican Republic just opened a new amenity that will be a huge draw for families with young children: Lopesan’s Costa Bavaro Resort, Spa & Casino with its expansive children’s aqua park designed by Martin Aquatic.
The entire resort property spans 27 acres along the Dominican Republic’s east coast, and while the first phase of the hotel opened in July, the master plan includes additional accommodations and amenities that continue to open in phases, including the latest kids waterpark. With the property’s focus on children’s programming through its kids club, as well as a separate space for tweens and teens, this new waterpark highlights all of the amenities for every member of the family.
The Caribbean themed wet playground features 1,500 square meters of aquatic fun. The play structure’s eight slides from Whitewater West offer tot-sized splashes and closed-flume twists and turns. The tall dumping bucket in the middle drenches everyone who dares to stand below, and the dozens of spraying elements around the structure keep kids cool. For younger children, the splash pad adjacent to the slide structure offers safe, zero-depth play with vertical spraying elements and interactive fountains. Babies and toddlers can play at ground level on the colorful, soft surfacing from Life Floor while engaging with jets and geysers that shoot water into the air.
The entire resort project with its 1,036 guestrooms and suites was designed by HKS and took an investment of more than $250 million from the Lopesan Hotel Group. With future phases rolling out, it promises even more amenities around the hotel and the adjacent 215,000-square-foot shopping, dining, and entertainment district.
