What the Duck?

Releasing 750 ducks to prove CFD modeling simulation

What the Duck?

Nearly three years ago, Martin Aquatic made the investment in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technology, a simulation software that can predict the movement of water based on a number of variables. We recognized that this capability could dramatically improve our process for designing complex water features—especially lazy rivers and large bodies of water where ensuring water flow was crucial.

What we didn’t know was exactly how precise CFD modeling would be in real-world conditions. After one of our very first CFD-modeled projects was built, we put the computer to the test. Our methodology? 750 rubber ducks sent floating down the river to visually represent the vectors of the water current.
