Exterior Designer

The Exterior Designer is responsible for implementing creative outdoor plans for Martin Aquatic’s waterpark, poolscape, and splashpad concept designs. Working as a part of the engineering firm’s Creative Studio, this professional will assist the design team in developing visual layouts for client presentations, which showcase various elements of spatial planning. The Exterior Designer will derive plans from AutoCAD layouts, delivering to the client a colored, visually appealing plan that includes capacity modeling, pathway/access flow patterns, and identification of outdoor aquatic elements like splash toys and spray fixtures, cabanas and loungers. This role requires a blend of technical skill and creative vision; the outdoor plans are required to follow certain building/health codes for bodies of water, but also offer fun/luxurious/family-friendly amenities for Martin Aquatic’s clients. Candidate must be able to work with a team of designers and engineers. Successful candidate will work in Orlando, Florida for projects located in the US and abroad.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong AutoCAD skills
  • Experience in Rhino Modeling / Sketch software
  • Ability to quickly lay out items with fixed boundaries and create a circulation plan
  • Understanding of spatial awareness
  • Ability to sketch and visualize sites from 1 acre to 30 acres for recreation and entertainment
  • Understanding of pathway/access flow patterns for guest movement
  • Ability to be a self-starter and stay on task working towards extremely quick deadlines.
  • Strong computer organizational skills in finding, sourcing, and using a variety of blocks from AutoCAD libraries
  • Able to quickly take client feedback and provide sketches/updates
  • Able to coordinate with other design consultants for shared site base layouts
