Martin Aquatic and Blue Mar Basins® are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join our team. This position is focused on preparing accurate cost estimates for Blue Mar Basins equipment packages that complement Martin Aquatic’s design projects. The Estimator will be responsible for reviewing and working with the Martin Aquatic team in the preparation of construction cost estimates which will include performing quantity and area take-offs. Beyond that, the team member will be responsible for creating detailed equipment and material estimates as part of Martin Aquatic’s Blue Mar Products division. This role plays a key part in helping Blue Mar evaluate costs, generate proposals, and ensure pricing accuracy for aquatic systems that include water treatment related components. The ideal candidate will have a background in construction or engineering and be exceptionally skilled in Excel and data management. This is an office-based position that requires close coordination with our design, sales, and project management teams to ensure accurate pricing, documentation, and client communication.
Qualifications & Skills
- Background in construction, equipment supply, mechanical systems, or related field preferred
- 5 – 7 years of experience in estimating, cost analysis, or inside sales within an engineering, construction or manufacturing environment
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data management, and reporting)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a focus on accuracy and consistency
Responsibilities & Duties
- Review and interpret engineering design drawings and specifications
- Perform quantity and area take-offs to develop accurate estimates for equipment packages and materials
- Prepare and maintain cost estimates, pricing summaries, and proposal documentation
- Develop and manage advanced estimating spreadsheets and pricing databases in Excel
- Track and update pricing data to reflect material, equipment, and manufacturing cost changes
- Ensure all estimates are complete, consistent, and aligned with project requirements and company standards
- Support the creation of client-facing proposals by providing accurate cost breakdowns and supporting documentation
- Contribute to the refinement of internal estimating tools, templates, and procedures for improved efficiency
