Electrical Design Engineer

Martin Aquatic has an immediate full-time position available for an Electrical Designer / Electrical Engineer seeking direct experience in electrical controls design and power distribution design to work as part of the engineering department. The ideal candidate has at least 2+ years of experience in designing, assembling, or commissioning electrical control systems and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. As an Electrical Engineer, you must possess excellent computer skills including the use of AutoCAD, file management skills and working knowledge of controllers and controller networks. It is recommended to be highly organized, creative, thorough, detail oriented and possessing strong critical thinking skills. You will be expected to work in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam and Excel daily. Successful candidate will work in Orlando, Florida on preparing engineering documents for aquatic projects located in the US and abroad.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in electrical controls design and mechanical equipment power distribution design preferred 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering 
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, specifically Microsoft Excel 
  • Comfortable working with various voltages and frequencies 
  • Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, relays, valves, digital and analog IO, network-based communications 
  • Familiarity with interpreting equipment cut sheets and manuals 
  • Must be able to collaborate with mechanical engineers and project managers daily 
  • Ability to cope with conflicting deadlines and manage workload efficiently to meet submission dates 
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills 
  • Must have worked on or with design / construction documents previously 
  • Installation and troubleshooting experience a plus. 
  • Knowledge of the aquatics industry or themed entertainment industry a plus. 
  • Knowledge of both PLC and DMX programming a plus. 
  • Experience with the NEC a plus. 
  • Successfully passed FE or PE exam a plus. 

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Candidate must complete the following tasks daily: 
    • Development of single line drawings and functional block diagrams 
    • Development of schematic wiring diagrams 
    • Design of electrical panel schedules and load calculations 
    • Create and edit technical specifications 
    • Development of field wiring diagrams 
    • Comprehension of piping and instrumentation diagrams 
    • Theory of operation write-ups 
    • Sizing wires and breakers 
    • Voltage drop calculations 
    • Conduit and Cable Tray design and fill calculations 
    • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and a repository or knowledge and type 
    • Design requirements for submerged wires and wires through and around moving parts 
    • Transformer installation design and MCC design 
  • Review electrical engineering designs, including single-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, connection diagrams, protection schemes, etc. 
  • Ensures electrical system designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations and standards 
  • Interact with clients and manufacturers as a primary point of communication 
  • Minimal travel which would be for field supervision of installation, client meetings, and vendor research
