Blue Mar Basins® Technology to Power Two New Florida Surf Parks
Martin Aquatic’s patented water management system will deliver pristine swim basins for year-round surfing in home state with more under development across the US and internationally.

The surf communities on the Gulf Coast and East Coast of Florida will soon have access to consistent, on-demand waves thanks to the development of two new surf parks, both designed using Martin Aquatic’s patented Blue Mar Basins® technology. The Point Surfpark in Fellsmere and the newly announced Shell Point Beach & Surf Club in Panama City Beach are separated by nearly 500 miles, offering millions of Floridians access to freshwater surfing with pristine water conditions.
Using Blue Mar Basins technology, the surf lagoons will experience greater water savings, chemical savings, and energy savings through a patented process for filtration, automation, and water distribution. Martin Aquatic developed this technology using advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling to simulate how the pool will function in real-world operation, and its ongoing proprietary process for water quality monitoring will safeguard the aquatic environment.
Both surf lagoons feature waves powered by Endless Surf, the pneumatic wave generation technology from WhiteWater of Vancouver, Canada. The company’s heart-shaped design of the surf basins can create customized wave heights, speeds, and angles, allowing aspiring surfers to build their confidence and even challenge the skills of the most veteran surfers. Each surf basin will use Endless Surf’s ES36 technology, which can generate rides as long as 19 seconds.
Already under construction, The Point Surfpark will be Florida’s first surf park and the USA’s first Endless Surf lagoon when it opens in 2026. Fellsmere is conveniently located in the middle of Florida’s east coast, just a two-hour drive for surfers as far north as Daytona Beach and south to Fort Lauderdale.
At Shell Point Beach & Surf Club, the site plan includes additional hospitality amenities, including multiple pools and a swim up bar, spas, waterslides, and a children’s splash pad all designed by Martin Aquatic. The location sits in downtown Panama City Beach, just a few blocks away from the shore.
These two projects are the first of more than a dozen surf parks under development for Martin Aquatic. Along with others, the company’s conceptual team is working on master plan developments for surf parks in Latin America that cater to private residential communities.
“The popularity for surfing is continuing to increase at the same time that these wave generation technologies are becoming more sophisticated and more feasible to construct,” said Alessandro Orio, VP of Blue Mar Basins at Martin Aquatic. “With the proven water quality that our Blue Mar Basins technology can produce, we’re seeing high demand for our system and the kind of cost-savings that it offers.”
