Controls Engineer
Martin Aquatic is seeking a Controls Engineer to join our team and support our Blue Mar Basins division. This position plays a vital role in the installation and remote support of all Blue Mar Basins systems. We are looking for candidates with 3-5 years of hands-on experience working with PLC-based systems, with demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting, commissioning, and client communication. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in control system design, analog and digital sensors, PLC programming, and VFDs. A solid understanding of controllers, IO, industrial networking, and power systems is also required. Success in this role depends on excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects with a collaborative team and provides room for professional growth and expanded responsibilities over time.
The successful candidate will work in Orlando, Florida and will be expected to travel for projects located throughout the United States and internationally. This role requires approximately 40% travel.

Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience with PLC-based control systems, including installation, wiring, commissioning or troubleshooting
- Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field preferred. Equivalent field experience (10+ years) will also be considered.
- Strong understanding of PLCs, sensors, relays, valves, digital and analog IO, network-based communications
- Familiarity with interpreting equipment cut sheets and manual
- Comprehension of piping and instrumental diagrams
- Comfortable working with various voltages and frequencies
- Must be able to collaborate with mechanical engineers and clients daily
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with VFDs, programming and commissioning of VFDS
- Previous experience with installation and commissioning of control systems is required
- Knowledge of the aquatics industry or themed entertainment industry a plus
- Knowledge of DMX or show control systems and/or experience in aquatics or themed entertainment is a plus
- Mechanical aptitude or experience in mechanical systems is a plus
- Understanding of HVAC control systems, industrial automation, PLCs, and HMIs is a plus
Responsibilities & Duties
- Candidate must complete the following tasks daily:
- Installation and commissioning of new systems
- Routinely schedule visits to client sites for support/training
- Continual monitoring and proactive support of active systems
- Resolve inquiries from client maintenance personnel
- Draft and maintain theory-of-operation documentation for new and existing systems
- Development of troubleshooting manuals
- Keep records of work completed and write up incident logs as needed
- Periodically (i.e. Monthly) submit maintenance and status reports to clients
- Interact with clients and manufacturers as a primary point of communication
- 40% travel which would be for field commissioning, client meetings or vendor research
