Martin Aquatic Wins Two Dream Designs Awards
The 2021 awards program from Aquatics International magazine showcases two of Martin Aquatic’s projects in the hospitality and fitness industries.
The poolscape designs at the Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort and The St. James—both projects designed by Martin Aquatic Design & Engineering—took home Dream Designs honors as part of the annual competition from Aquatics International magazine.
The Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa & Casino added its adults-only ‘Trankilo’ pool as part of a property-wide renovation, delivering a sophisticated poolscape adjacent to the hotel’s beachfront. Aquatic International highlighted the pool’s stair-step profile design, which allows for secluded spaces and the benefit of rentable cabanas that each have their own entry into the water. With unique water features that create a relaxing environment and an infinity edge facing the ocean, it’s easy to see why this beautiful poolscape made the list of 2021 Dream Design Winners.
The second project from Martin Aquatic to be recognized was the competition pool and kids aquatic playground at The St. James in Springfield, Virginia. Set within the impressive 450,000-square-foot sports facility, the 52-meter pool offers amateur swimmers through competitive athletes an elite pool for training and meets. Its moveable bulkhead gives operators the flexibility to split the space for different programming functions, while its proximity to the kids aquatic splash pad means that the whole family can enjoy an aquatic experience simultaneously—a key goal of the facility that features so many athletic venues under one roof. The 6,000-square-foot children’s wet playground spans multiple stories and includes different slides, sprays and cannons, all with a sophisticated blue and orange color palette that made it an attractive addition to this year’s list of winners from the Dream Designs competition.
