The winter cold couldn’t match the tropical vibes inside the heated tent at the Jan. 12th official groundbreaking ceremony for ISLAND waterpark, the new 100,000-square-foot indoor attraction coming to The Showboat Hotel at Atlantic City. Members of the press gathered to hear from local government officials and the developer of the new project, Bart Blatstein, founder and CEO of Philadelphia-based Tower Investments, who shared exciting new details about ISLAND waterpark at Showboat.

ISLAND waterpark will be the largest indoor-outdoor beachfront waterpark in America, with a retractable glass pane roof that allows guests to soak up the fun all year long. With 11 slides ranging from wild to mild, every member of the family will have thrills just for them, including plenty to see and do. The waterpark features a lazy river, family pool, slide tower, and a slide island made up of the world’s largest custom AquaForms multi-level play structure by WhiteWater. Adventurers and spectators alike will enjoy the surf simulator, offering the perfect wave. While kids will have access to a 10,300-square-foot splash pad area, parents can enter the equally-spacious adult zone inside ISLAND waterpark, complete with bars and spa services such as foot massages and manicure/pedicure stations.

“There’s no waterpark in the entire world that will have the amenities that this waterpark does,” Blatstein told the media during the groundbreaking ceremony.

In addition to the mix of slides, ISLAND waterpark will include ziplines, party rooms, numerous food and beverage options, and a full boardwalk with typical boardwalk games.

This new development has been hailed by city leaders for its efforts to enhance Atlantic City’s family-friendly entertainment options. Just last year Showboat Hotel opened Lucky Snake, a 100,000-square-foot arcade and sports bar featuring 300 games, a boxing ring, an e-sports gaming lounge, live entertainment venues, and a speakeasy.

Under the leadership of Atlantic City-based architect SOSH working for Tower Investments, the team includes Martin Aquatic Design & Engineering as the design consultant, as well as WhiteWater West as the principal slide vendor, OpenAire providing the retractable roof structure, and American Resort Management overseeing the operational direction.
