Carnival Opens Celebration Key, Featuring Two Blue Mar Basins®

The long wait is finally over for the opening of Carnival’s $600 million private destination, Celebration Key, as the Carnival Vista made the first official visit. Nearly 5,000 cruise passengers disembarked on the exclusive port at Grand Bahama this past Saturday, as they were met with spectacular views of the Caribbean’s largest freshwater lagoons stretching as far as the eye can see.

Powered by Blue Mar Basins® technology from Martin Aquatic, these massive basins host an incredible array of aquatic activities and amenities, including swim up bars, over-water cabanas, DJ islands, and two thrilling waterslides. Thanks to the design of these new basins, Celebration Key has racked up some unique records that guests will want to experience firsthand, such as the world’s largest swing and swim-up bar with 50 free-swaying seats.

Towering high above the glittering blue lagoons is the iconic 10-story Suncastle, the world’s tallest sandcastle, which features two body slides that wind through 350 feet of turns and sudden drops. Adjacent to this family-friendly amenity is another perfect spot for young cruisers—a splash pad and pool covered by a shade sail for safe fun in the sun.

In addition to the two basins that each represent 275,000 square feet, the private Pearl Cove Beach Club offers an exclusive retreat with its own infinity pool with swim up bar overlooking a white sand beach.

Martin Aquatic designed and engineered all the aquatic amenities at Celebration Key, and through our Blue Mar Basins technology, we will be able to monitor the performance of the basins and water quality as more guests are welcomed to the destination.
