Martin Aquatic Promotes Diego Cordova to Vice President of Technical Direction

The world-class aquatic design and engineering firm, Martin Aquatic, announced the promotion of Diego Cordova, recognizing his contributions to the company’s expansion of innovative product solutions and services.

In his role as Vice President of Technical Direction, he leads the development of new products and technologies, as well as projects that are based in themed entertainment and show fountains.

Since joining Martin Aquatic in 2014, Diego honed his skills working to support theme park clients on their nighttime fountain and firework shows or elaborate water effects as part of rides and attractions. With more confidential projects than public work in his portfolio, Diego is Martin Aquatic’s secret weapon for development partners that are seeking spectacular aquatic guest experiences. He worked on the team that helped develop the fountains, waterfalls, and features at Tokyo DisneySea’s largest expansion ever in 2024, Fantasy Springs. That project earned Martin Aquatic its first ever Thea award in 2025.

“Diego has always been drawn to the latest technologies in aquatic features, and it’s his tinkerer mindset that has evolved over the years to pushing boundaries in technology and what we can do at Martin Aquatic,” said Josh Martin, president & creative director. “He is directly and indirectly responsible for dozens of innovations that we’ve developed, crafting some of the most technological-forward products, systems, and show design elements that can be incorporated with water.”

One of his biggest contributions (that can be disclosed publicly) is leading the development of Martin Aquatic’s own product solution, the Blue Mar Nova. This light series was developed as a powerful pool submersible light that can illuminate large underwater spaces, such as the company’s multi-acre Blue Mar Basins. In both the bright white and RGBAW, the Blue Mar Nova is performing brilliantly, with installations in a dozen high-profile aquatic projects such as the massive lagoons at Carnival’s Celebration Key and the Great Tides Lagoon pool at Norwegian’s private island, Great Stirrup Cay.

Not only is Diego a leader in the technical development side, his expertise in concept design has also made him a primary contact for clients as they begin planning for waterparks, fountain shows, and other aquatic features. Clients seeking an awe-inspiring fountain will see some of Diego’s visualizations and animations as he consults with them on which fountain nozzle will create a desired effect.

Diego manages projects across the Caribbean and South America while also serving as Martin Aquatic’s Director of Latin America.
