Blue Mar Basins® and Myrtha Pools Celebrate Partnership with First Project at Carnival’s Private Caribbean Destination

Since its debut in July, Carnival Cruise Line’s Celebration Key has welcomed more than 350,000 guests to experience the Caribbean’s largest freshwater lagoons, powered by Martin Aquatic’s Blue Mar Basins system and Myrtha Pools' modular stainless steel pool technology.

With the opening of Celebration Key, Blue Mar Basins has announced an exclusive partnership with Myrtha Pools to offer their clients the ability to construct Basins with Myrtha’s pre-engineered stainless steel pool technology, known worldwide for their durability and efficient construction timelines. This new partnership lays the foundation for expanding large-scale lagoon projects worldwide, providing developers with a reliable solution for projects that require both speed of execution and long-term performance.

“Martin Aquatic has utilized Myrtha technology for years, seeing its incredible versatility for quick installation and long-term durability,” said Josh Martin, president & creative director for Martin Aquatic. “With our sustainable, cost-saving Blue Mar Basins technology for large scale aquatic amenities, a formal partnership with Myrtha is a perfect match to offer our clients that same level of quality for their project.”

Celebration Key’s twin lagoons showcase everything the Blue Mar Basins system can offer: pristine water clarity and safe conditions for even the highest of bathing loads. Carnival ships have brought between 3,000 and 11,000 guests to the private destination daily since its debut, with swimmers spreading out over every inch of water surface area that totals nearly seven acres. With its deepest zones only reaching five feet, swimmers can wade throughout the entire lagoon, along the lined floor of Myrtha’s stainless steel pool.

“Celebration Key in the Bahamas marks an important milestone for Myrtha Pools. The project has demonstrated our ability to deliver large-scale aquatic solutions,” said Matteo Bazzaro, International Business Director of Myrtha Pools. “The 270,000-square-foot lagoon is a focal point of Carnival’s new 2.5-million-square-foot leisure destination, and our modular stainless steel system, combined with Antislip Myrtha membrane and Soft Walk technologies, contributes to a safe, durable, and visually refined environment.”

To construct the largest Myrtha pool ever built, the experienced resort contractors at Bahamas Environmental Group oversaw the installation of the stainless steel panel system, helping save Carnival valuable time in the construction schedule. Together with the modular Blue Mar Basins system, and Myrtha’s modular stainless steel panels, trained crews were able to complete installation more readily than ever before.

“Thanks to Myrtha’s close coordination and partnership with Blue Mar Basins and Martin Aquatic, the project team developed innovative foundation and recirculation solutions, and the overall construction period was delivered by Bahamas Environmental Group in just six months,” said Bazzaro. “The collaboration with the ownership team, design professionals and our construction partners was nothing short of exceptional. We are incredibly proud of how the project turned out and are excited about its lasting impact on the industry for years to come."
